Happy Independence Day to our Pakistani readers!
Wort.lu/en would like to wish Happy Independence Day to all our Pakistani readers as in 2015 the country celebrates its 69th year of independence since it became s a sovereign nation.
It was in 1947 the reign of the British Raj came to an end and the Pakistan that developed into the country we know today, was born through the rise of the Pakistan Movement aimed at creating an independent Muslim state.
Independence Day Celebrations take place throughout the country but the main ceremony is in Islamabad where the country's flag is raised on government buildings and the national anthem is played before live speeches by leaders are televised.
But it is not all ceremony. Cultural events, parades, parties and firework displays take place and the national flag can be seen everywhere hanging from homes, in cars or even painted on faces.
