The American Women’s Club of Luxembourg (AWCL) is organising a demonstration in Luxembourg as part of a global campaign to end violence against women and promote justice.

The One Billion Rising Rally, will take place in Place d'Armes in the capital on February 14 from 3.30pm.

According to figures published by the United Nations, one in three women around the world will be raped on beaten in their lifetime, equivalent to one billion women.

This event gives everyone a chance to take a stand against violence to women, be they men, women or children.

During the afternoon, the AWCL photography group will showcase an exhibition featuring visions of justice. The One Billion Rising anthem, Break the Chain, will be played meanwhile supporters can join in with a Zumba demonstration.

The event is the second of its kind to be hosted in Luxembourg. Last year more than 150 people gathered in the capital for a flash mob opposing violence against women.

Worldwide, 207 countries and more than one billion people participated in the campaign.
