After 18 years of loyal service, Jean-Claude Juncker handed the Prime Minister baton to Xavier Bettel on Thursday with the transfer of power taking place in a friendly atmosphere.

After 18 years of loyal service, Jean-Claude Juncker handed the Prime Minister baton to Xavier Bettel on Thursday. The transfer of power took place in a friendly atmosphere as the photo above clearly shows.

The former Prime Minister expressed the hope that "the people accept the new Prime Minister."

For his part, Xavier Bettel said he "did not want to be Prime Minister for a portion of the people, but the entire country."

During the formation of the government, Jean-Claude Juncker provided good advice for Xavier Bettel, who took advantage of the occasion to thank him personally.

Party at the Luxembourg City Town Hall

A little party was organised on Wednesday night at the town hall to wish Xavier Bettel and François Bausch good luck in their ministerial roles and bid a fond farewell as mayor and deputy mayor to them both.
