KFC Japan deep fries corn soup
(AFP) Because there just aren’t enough deep-fried liquid foods in the world, KFC Japan has gone and thrown corn chowder into the deep fryer.
Spun as deep-fried soup, the breaded corn fritters will be launched September 5 in KFC restaurants across Japan and carry on a culinary trend that’s taken the country by storm: creamy corn potage.
The popularity of corn soup has made it a fixture on cafe menus in Japan and - as is bound to happen in a country where culinary trends often take on a life of its own - undergone unexpected interpretations including popsicle form for the summer.
When it comes to deep-frying liquids, there are perhaps no better culinary alchemists than US state fair food purveyors, who’ve deep-fried Coca-Cola and Kool-Aid.
