Kinderkavalkade come to Kayle
(ADW) The streets of Kayl on Sunday were full for clowns, cowboys and pirates. The “Kinderkavalkade” or children’s parade, had come to town! Although the weather was not the best, still many parents and kids turned out the gather up the sweets thrown at them by the passing procession.
The colourful and noisy parade began at 2:30pm in the Rue Notre-Dame and moved on to the Rue Altrescht, the Grand-Rue, winding through the streets to end up in Tétange. The Kinderkavalkade this year notched up 800 participants, including about 400 children.
Spectators lined the streets to admire 20 colourful floats of all shapes and sizes including a pirate ship, a dwarf land, and of course clown worlds. Much to the delight of children, confetti and sweets were distributed.
There was much singing and dancing too with four music associations in all, providing a merry carnival atmosphere to the visitors, estimated to be between 2000 to 3000 this year.
Once the parade had come to an end, a children's ball was held at the "Schungfabrik”, and the most imaginative costumes and most beautifully decorated floats were awarded prizes.
