Kockelscheuer lake skating now permitted
(ADW) Despite warnings only being issued a few days ago for not skating on Kockelscheuer lake near Luxembourg City, that has now all changed due to ice more than 50cm thick in places allowing you the rare chance to demonstrate your triple salchow in the open air!
The good news was announced during City breakfast on Wednesday morning by the mayor Lydie Polfer, stating that from Wednesday until Sunday inclusive, skating will be permitted on the lake.
The mostly negative temperatures during the past eight days have allowed for a thick layer of ice to form which the City announced to be "more than 50 cm thick" in certain places.
As of Wednesday Kockelscheuer lake will be open for skating between 12 pm and 5 pm every day until Sunday, during which time the local fire brigade will be present to monitor the lake and surrounding area.
Don't forget to bring your own ice skates, as renting will not be possible.
