A large-scale manhunt began on Saturday morning in the south of Luxembourg, complete with a police helicopter and sniffer dog teams and the public is being asked to keep an eye out.

A large-scale manhunt began on Saturday morning in the Differdange area, complete with a police helicopter, and sniffer dog teams and the public is being asked to keep an eye out.

The search was triggered in relation to a car theft in the Haneboesch industrial zone near Differdange, that occurred at about 9am on Saturday.

A helicopter was reported to be sweeping the area from Differdange to Esch-sur-Alzette with various teams on the ground including sniffer dogs.

The perpatrator is described as a man about 1.70 metres tall, aged about 25 and at the time of the crime wore a black jacket, light blue jeans and dark shoes.

Witnesses who may have seen the man or something suspicious in the vicinity of the Haneboesch industrial zone, should immediately call the emergency number: 113
