Logging truck plunges into River Sûre
The N15 remained closed on Thursday afternoon, following an accident in the morning which saw a truck crashing into the Sûre river, killing the driver.
The accident occurred on Thursday in Heiderscheidergrund, near Esch-sur-Sûre. According to initial reports, the driver appears to have lost control of the fully loaded vehicle on a sharp right bend of the N15, close to the Hotel Bissen.
After braking, the vehicle skidded and broke through a wall, plunging into the river and landing on its roof.
The 61-year-old driver, a Belgian national, was reported dead by police in the early afternoon.
Water levels had be lowered by several centimetres at the nearby dam to enable the recovery of the body.
The cause of the accident remains unknown, and an investigation has been launched.
