Lower the drawbridge, here comes Rock the Castle!
(ADW) There's a lot going on this weekend in Luxembourg. But if you are looking for something different on Saturday and want to escape the City, there's a musical event in the east of the country that takes place in Betzdorf castle.
“Rock d'Schlass” or Rock The Castle is an open-air, one-day festival of local rock talent in the picturesque surroundings of Betzorf Castle taking place on Saturday July 2.
Several acts you may have seen during Fête de la Musique are in the line-up, such as the melodic Birdbones, the rocking Vintage Gigolos, swinging Elephant Ghost, or kings of Luxembourg soul and funk Funky P.
This will be the third year running “Rock d'Schlass” takes place, offering a real alternative to the host of events happening in the centre and south of the country during the summer months.
The whole event kicks off with the festival opening its doors (or lowering the drawbridge) at noon on Saturday with the first act performing at 1pm. The best news is that the event is totally free!
Rock d'Schlass line-up:
1pm - Medley Jukebox
2pm - Birdbones
3pm - Vintage Gigolos
4pm - Elephant Ghost
5pm - D.A.S. Groove
6pm - Tëschegas
7pm - Heavy Petrol & Greyounds
8pm - Metakilla
10pm - Funky P
How do I get there?
Getting there is easy. Bus 130 leaves from Luxembourg- Royal “quai-1” and goes directly to Beztdof (or Berg), although you do need to be careful as although the bus number is 130, the route changes numbers throughout the day. The best solution is to download and print the timetable here.
As for the return trip, free shuttle buses are being provided at 1am back to the City as well as other destinations around the country.
