Luxembourg 10th most-expensive in EU for bar beer prices
(CS) In an international ranking of beer prices, Luxembourg City placed 47th out of 75 cities around the world; however, a closer look reveals that in Europe it was the 10th most expensive for beer prices at bars.
Looking at cities in the EU only, Luxembourg's capital placed 26th out of 36 cities for the overall average price of 0.33cl of beer, calculated out of the price of beer at the supermarket and at a bar. According to GoEuro this average is at 3.21 euros in the Grand Duchy.
The ranking placed Krakow in the top spot overall with the cheapest beer, at just 1.48 euros on average. Most expensive in Europe was Helsinki (4.38 euros), in 68th place overall. In the full ranking Geneva (5.64 euros) was most expensive.
However, there is a noticeable different between beer prices at supermarkets and at bars.
In the top ten for prices at bars only, in the EU Helsinki leads with 7.30 euros for 0.33cl, while Luxembourg placed 10th with 5.50 euros. Also in the top ten are Rome, London, Prais, Copenhagen, Milan, Dublin, Barcelona and Athens.
In comparison, the same amount of beer was only 0.91 euros on average at Luxembourg supermarkets.
London was the most expensive for supermarket beer in the EU at 1.51 euros for 0.33cl. Overall most expensive was Oslo (3.08 euros). Cheapest in the EU for supermarket beer was also Krakow (0.55 euros), while cheapest overall was Belgrade, at just one cent below the Krakow average.
