(ADW) The US aircraft manufacturer Boeing announced on Friday that the first delivery for the cargo version of its new 747-8F jumbo jet will be delivered to Cargolux in Luxembourg on September 19.

The second aircraft will also “wing” its way to the Grand Duchy and arrive at Findel Airport on September 21, according to a Cargolux statement.

Boeing received the certification from both U.S. and European authorities for the aircraft back on August 19. The manufacturer stated at that time that “delivery would take place early September".

The programme and delivery for the new, yet already legendary 747-8Fs, has been plagued with delays in testing and “rehearsals” as Boeing refers to test flying. This has meant that Cargolux has been made to wait an extra two years than originally planned.
