Two explosions in post boxes in Luxembourg have been reported within five days and despite the incidents being about 20 kilometres apart and in different circumstances, police suspect they could be connected.

On Tuesday night, a public post box belonging to Post Luxembourg in Tarchamps near Lake Haut Sûre was shattered after a deliberate explosion.

A worker from the local commune reported the discovery to the police on Wednesday stating that the post box was completely destroyed with pieces of it discovered about 20 metres away.

Several witnesses stated that they heard an explosion during the course of the night between Tuesday to Wednesday.

It was on Saturday May 23 in Bockholtz, a village in the commune of Goedorf, that the first exploding post box was reported. However in this incident it was a private post box that was damaged.

Police at this stage, have not made any official links between the two incidents but it is suspected that they could indeed be connected.
