Belgium may axe Luxembourg rail links
(JB) Rail users travelling between Belgium and Luxembourg may face a reduced services when the Belgian rail service axes 193 trains.
At present is is unclear how the reduced service will affect Luxembourg. Ministers have only been made aware of a reduction of 26 trains in the province of Luxembourg, bordering the Grand Duchy.
Sustainability minister Claude Wiseler said he regretted the decision. He was particularly disappointed because of the efforts made in recent years to encourage sustainable travel for cross-border workers via rail links.
The country currently aims to ensure that 25% of all journeys made in Luxembourg use public transport.
