Luxembourg - Brussels motorway blocked due to protests
Due to protests by Belgian farmers, the E411 motorway linking Luxembourg to Brussels is currently blocked in both directions in the area of Habay-la-Neuve, just 13 km from Arlon.
Anyone wishing to travel to Brussels, once passed Arlon, should take national roads, advises the Automobile Club of Luxembourg (ACL) and CITA, Luxembourg's motorway traffic information service.
While it is a “filtered blockade”, where cars will be let through and trucks blocked, so not completely closed to traffic, car drivers are still advised to plan another route as large traffic jams have formed in both directions.
A similar action is taking place on the Belgian A4 motorway, at Warnach-Fauvillers, a few kilometres from Martelange and the Luxembourg border.
Belgian farmers are protesting against falling milk and meat prices.
EU agriculture ministers will meet on September 7 to discuss the current state of the sector within Europe.
