Luxembourg central bank mints new royal pocket change
(JB) Luxembourg's Central Bank has released a series of collectors' coins and other items to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the dynastie of Nassau-Weilbourg.
Among the commemorative items are the special edition "Brillant Universel" two-euro coin mounted in a presentation card. The coin depicts each of the heads of state from the dynasty in Luxembourg from Grand Duke Adolphe right up to the current Grand Duke Henri.
A total 7,500 mounted coins are available for a cost of 10 euros. The coins can be purchased without the display case at a cost of 58 euros for 25 coins.
Coin collectors can also purchase the "Belle épreuve" box set containing special editions of five 2015 coins produced with the image of Grand Duke Henri, for a cost of 95 euros.
For fans of political history, a special coin has been produced that marks the 200th anniversary of the Congress of Vienna in 1815, and which has been available since June.
The five-euro coin features each of the main figures involved in the congress. On sale at a cost of 75 euros, this coin was minted by the Austria Mint.
Finally, a coin bearing a wild cat completes the "Fauna and Flora of Luxembourg series". Made from silver and nordic gold by the Dutch Mint, the coin can be purchased for 45 euros.
