Luxembourg City awards urban pianists
A 12-year-old pianist, who gave an impressive performance on a piano outside the Grand Théâtre in Luxembourg, is among the winners of the My Urban Piano contest.
Luxembourg City launched the contest during the summer when 15 pianos were installed around the capital for members of the public to play.
The local authority asked people to film themselves playing the pianos and send in the results. The response was very positive and on Wednesday the City awarded prizes for the two most original clips.
The first was of 12-year-old Yannick-Paul, filmed by his mother while he played a classical piece with some considerable skill.
A second clip, submitted by Victoria Jokisch and titled "Where is the piano", showed two women performing and dancing the theme to Amélie, composed by Yann Tiersen. The two toured the city, performing at a number of the pianos.
