Luxembourg creates AI lab with NVIDIA in European first
Luxembourg is set to become the first European country to enter a partnership in the field of artificial intelligence with leading American technology firm NVIDIA, the government said on Wednesday.
NVIDIA will create a joint AI laboratory in Luxembourg, together with the government and groups of local researchers.
A team of six people will first work at the laboratory, and do research into several fields related to AI and high-performance computing.
NVIDIA will team up with the University of Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB), the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).
The goal is to boost collaboration and enable innovative initiatives in line with the government's plans for a 'Digital Luxembourg', which aims to establish Luxembourg as a digital frontrunner.
The cooperation with NVIDIA will enable the lab to work in close connection with the global AI research of the company's computer scientists. It will be supported by a joint advisory board.
The project follows a memorandum of understanding signed on the 5 July 2018 between NVIDIA and the Luxembourg Government.
