Ferris wheel to return to City Christmas market
(CS) The Luxembourg Christmas market opens in just over two weeks, and revellers can already look forward to the Ferris wheel, which will make a return to the Place de la Constitution this year.
Under Luxembourg mayor Xavier Bettel the capital's Christmas market had received a facelift. Not only did the mayor promote the sale of more arts and crafts, for example by introducing chalets available for rent to members of the public, but the revamp also saw the market expanded to the Place de la Constitution.
There, a Ferris wheel towered next to the Gëlle Fra, with more food and drinks stalls and a carousel for children.
While the “new look” Christmas market was not uncontroversial at the time, it appears to have been a success, as it is back this year.
The Christmas market in Luxembourg City kicks off on November 23 and will remain open until December 24 for mulled wine, Gromperekichelcher and all ther other traditional treats.
Additionally, shops will be open on Sundays throughout December (1, 8, 15 and 22) from 2pm to 6pm.
