Police are investigating after a fire broke out in a dumpster at a French college in the capital on Saturday night.

Firefighters received several calls at around 10pm on Saturday reporting smoke from the Lycée Vauban in avenue Joseph Sax, Limpertsberg.

They arrived to find a dumpster well alight with the flames spreading to a wooden shelter. The blaze was brought under control before it could spread to the school building. Material damage is expected to be high. Police and firefighters have not revealed the cause of the fire and have not ruled out arson.

Crime scene specialists were investigating the scene. Meanwhile, police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Limpertsberg on Saturday night, particularly in avenue Jules Sax, rue Jean Baptiste Fresez, André Square or avenue Pasteur, to call them on 4997-4500 or 113.
