(JB) Luxembourg politicians who fail to attend debates in the Chamber of Deputies will be named and shamed in a publicly accessible attendance list available online.

The list is already live on the Chamber of Deputies' website and forms part of a raft of reforms aimed at improving transparency on elected officials and parliamentary systems.

Chamber president Laurent Mosar announced the changes in September this year but it is only now that they are being put into effect.

As a result attendance during sessions will be more tightly controlled and members of the public will be able to see if deputies have missed any sessions by visiting www.chd.lu

Deputies who miss sessions must apologise in writing, justifying their absence. They will be able to catch up on missed debates via information published online.

The step towards improved transparency on public officials follows on the heels of the depuwatch.lu website, helping members of the public track the policies of individual deputies.
