Increase in Luxembourg exam participation for 2011
The sign up for final exams have attracted more people this year compared to 2010. In the classic secondary education, the participation rate increased only slightly, however it has jumped substantially in technical secondary education.
At classic secondary school, the rate of admission for 2011 is at 77.4%. This is slightly higher than 2010 which was 76.8%. The rate of those delaying their exams was 16% in 2011, representing a slight decrease from 2010 (16.2%). The refusal rate has been reduced to 6.6% in 2011 compared to 7% in 2010.
In technical secondary education, the admission rate stood at 75.9% compared to 72.0% in 2010. The rate of delaying exams decreases to 14.9% (18.1% in 2010) and the rate of rejection is 9.3% (9.9% in 2010). The level of training for technicians, the admission rate increased by 9% and amounted to 67.7% in 2011 (58.7% in 2010). The rate of delay has been reduced to 20.2% (compared to 25.3% in 2010). The rate of refusal has dropped to2.2% (compared to16.0% in 2010).
Success rate: girls outweigh the boys
Comparing the results between those of girls and boys showed that in mainstream secondary education and technical education both showed that girls are better than boys. However, the boys prevail at Technical school.
