Juncker- If not PM then I'll be MP
There was no rest for Luxembourg Prime Minister who took precious time out of his holiday in Austria to answer journalists' questions this week.
According to an interview by the "Tiroler Tageszeitung", the leader spoke at length about Greece and the euro crisis, banking secrecy and his political career expectations after October's national elections for Luxembourg.
“If I don't stay head of government, because my party is in opposition, then I'll serve as a deputy,” he was quoted as saying.
As for speculation that Juncker will seek to serve as EU president in 2014, the leader played down the rumours. “I want to be Prime Minister in Luxembourg, or an MP. It is not my intention to leave Luxembourg to focus on Europe,” he was reported as saying.
The Luxembourg leader was staying at the Gasthofs Stanglwirt, an organic spa hotel in the Tirol region, where he has reportedly been a regular guest for many years.
