(ADW) A child had a lucky escape on Thursday afternoon when she trapped her fingers in a moving escalator in a shop on the Grand Rue in Luxembourg City.

This little girl’s fingers became wedged between two metal parts of the escalator. Thanks to the automatic safety cut-out system, the escalator stopped immediately, however the child remained trapped.

Several sales assistants came to the aid of the poor girl and attempted to free her, but in vain.

Finally the City’s fire brigade was called, who successfully released the child from the escalator. The little girl suffered only slight injuries.

Despite the victim being only one trapped child, Luxembourg authorities didn’t rest on their laurels where emergency services were concerned. Eleven firefighters and two ambulances were involved in the incident.
