In an extra show of support, the campaign against the planned Luxembourg - Dublin flight closure, has now received the backing of Luxembourg City mayor Paul Helminger.

(ADW) Recent protests against Luxair's decision to scrap the Luxembourg Dublin flight in October has grown support. The Facebook protest page “Save the Luxair Lux-Dub route” as of today reached 1,176 supporters.

In an extra show of support, the campaign has now received the backing of Luxembourg City mayor Paul Helminger. In a letter to Luxair President Adrien Ney, Helminger stated “I am regularly approached by the Irish community who complain about Luxair's decision to stop the Luxembourg – Dublin connection from the flight programme”

Helminger went on to say that the connection between Luxembourg and Dublin is not only beneficial for Irish expats to visit their home country, but also to many Luxembourgish residents who take advantage in visiting Ireland both in a private and professional capacity.

“I would like to ask you and the board to reconsider the decision and maintain the connection, even if it means reducing the number of flights per week”, pleaded the mayor in his letter. Read the original letter in French at the link below.

The affair looks set to continue as protests and support gather pace.
