Luxembourg driver in fatal Trier car crash
A tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning on the B52 in Ehrang near Trier just over the border in Germany in the direction of Luxembourg. A head-on collision at speed occurred between two cars, one of them, and the driver, from Luxembourg.
A Smart was one of the cars involved in the accident and firefighters with cutting equipment were required to free the driver. However their efforts were in vain as the driver died from his injuries.
The other car from Luxembourg also required firefighters to free the trapped driver who suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital.
A dog, also a passenger of one of the cars was rescued from the wreckage by the fire brigade.
The B52 was completely closed while a salvage operation took place and an investigation launched as to why the accident took place, currently unknown.
