Luxembourg loves German cars!
It will probably come as no surprise to you that German cars, as they have been for some considerable time, are the nation's favourite. Indeed, according to registration statistics Volkswagen is still the most popular manufacturer in the Grand Duchy by far with 4529 new VW's registered from January to July 2011.
Number two in the ranking is the sister brand Audi with 2937 new registrations, followed by BMW in third.
Other countries only get a look-in for the fourth spot with French cars, Renault, Peugeot and Citroën following respectively.
Even Mercedes in eighth and Porsche 21st have secured respectable market shares.
At the end of the statistics table cars such as Cadillac, Lamborghini and Maybach appear and since the beginning of the year five Rolls Royce have been registered.
In the van category, the French come out top with Renault and Citroen, while Mercedes are the truck leaders.
Overall, the car market has rebounded this year so far. In fact as many cars have been registered as they were before the economic crisis in 2008. This means that the car population of Luxembourg is 409 000, therefore the vehicle population has doubled in the Grand Duchy in 20 years.
