(CS) Luxembourg's police force is warning of fraudsters who gain personal information about their victims online to blackmail them.

According to police, the usually male victims are contacted by an unknown woman on Facebook. The woman then tries to establish contact with the victim on Skype and persuade them to perform sexual acts.

Compliant victims are then recorded and threatened with the release of the video material should they fail to pay a sum of money.

Luxembourg police have received several complaints over the past weeks and are warning the public not to perform any sexual acts online due to a risk of blackmail.

They also warn that no money should be transferred to an unknown person and that victims of the scam should immediately contact police.
