Luxembourg's Grand Ducal family had to be evacuated from their property in the south of France in the early hours of Wednesday morning after wildfires tore through the area.

Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Grand Duke Jean and some of the family's children and other family members had to leave the summer house in Cabasson due to the fires in Bormes-les-Mimosas.

The wildfires started on Tuesday night and more than 12,000 people, including 3,000 holidaymakers who were camping, were forced to evacuate.

Luxembourg's Ducal family members have been moved to another location by the French authorities.

A statement sent by the Grand Ducal family's staff confirms they are all well.
