Luxembourg's PM awarded Liberalism Medal
Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel was awarded the Liberalism Medal, the highest distinction bestowed by Liberal International, a body representing liberal political parties worldwide.
Founded in 1947, the group became the first network between the liberal parties and seeks to strengthen liberal democracy around the world.
A delegation from Liberal International presented the medal to Xavier Bettel in a ceremony at the Hotel de Bourgogne in Luxembourg City.
In his address, President Dr Juli Minoves stressed that Liberal International chose to award the Medal of Liberalism to Xavier Bettel for "his commitment to liberalism at national and international level."
"I am pleased and honoured to receive this award. Please thank the members of Liberal International in particular the Executive Committee who made this decision," said Xavier Bettel.
