(JB) Motorists will be encouraged to leave their cars at home in a small number of towns in Luxembourg on September 22 as part of a campaign to promote sustainable transport.

Already the towns of Mersch and Dudelange have pledged to make their centres car-free zones on September 22 as part of European Mobility Week.

Others, like in Luxembourg City, will see cyclists rewarded with a goodie bag if they pass Schuman roundabout or the Viaduct (St Esprit) between 7am and 11am and 2pm and 3.30pm on September 17.

Mondercange, meanwhile, will invite members of the public for a street festival on September 19, when there will be live music, workshops and demonstrations of electric vehicles from 11am onwards.

The event will be capped off with an after-party at the Tire Bouchon in rue d'Esch. European Mobility Week runs from September 16 to 22.

Under the moniker 'Do the Right Mix', this year's Luxembourg version focuses on sustainable transport. To view all the projects in Luxembourg, visit www.mobiliteitswoch.lu
