Luxembourg unemployment surpasses 6% mark
(CS) Unemployment figures have risen again in November to 6.1%. This equals 15,164 citizens registered with employment agency ADEM.
This figures excludes anyone taking part in an employment measure, such as part-time work or re-training. The provisional number of unemployed including this group rises to 19,457.
Also on the rise is the number of those claiming full-time unemployment benefits, to 7,165 applicants. This marks a 7.3% rise in comparison to November last year.
The number of job offers registered with ADEM lies at 2,381 in November 2011, which is lower than the number of jobs offered by ADEM in November 2010 by 2.3%.
Finally, some 31 businesses requested to receive benefits to enable partial unemployment. Some 26 businesses were granted this measure, which means that out of 4,123 people, 2,966 employees will be working at reduced time.
