Lydie Polfer confirmed as Luxembourg City mayor
(CS) The Luxembourg City council on Monday evening confirmed DP politician Lydie Polfer as the capital's new mayor, replacing now-Premier Xavier Bettel.
The post will be familiar territory for Polfer, who served as Luxembourg City mayor from 1982 to 1999, succeeding her father, Camille Polfer, who had served as mayor for two years before quitting the post for health reasons.
It had been announced at a meeting of the DP last week that Polfer would take over from Bettel, who was elected mayor in 2011.
With members of government Bettel and François Bausch of “déi Gréng” now out of the “Conseil Communal”, the council on Monday also appointed two new members, Michel Rodenbourg (DP) and François Benoy (“déi Gréng”).
