Mixed feedback from Christmas market vendors
(CS/asc) Vendors at the Christmas markets in Luxembourg City, Esch/Alzette and Differdange were satisfied with this year's season overall, but said that purse strings were tied somewhat tighter this year.
Christmas market stall owners in the capital commented that especially the weekends had seen many visitors flock to the market, with weekdays less busy.
Vendors of gifts and other small arts and crafts meanwhile found that visitors made fewer spontaneous buys, saying that the economic crisis has also made Luxembourgers think twice before they buy.
The owners of food and drinks stalls meanwhile said that they do not expect to have made a loss in revenue.
In Esch/Alzette meanwhile the Christmas market drew a bigger crowd than before. This follows a re-vamp of the market, which sparkled in new splendour and a festive decor this year. Also positive was the verdict at the Differdange Christmas market.
The oldest market in Luxembourg had tempted visitors this year with a special programme of events. Together with good weather, organisers were satisfied with the results.
