Mystery of the body in the woods
Police are appealing for information to identify a body found in woodland near Walferdange three months ago.
The cadavre of a middle-aged man was discovered between the villages of Heisdorf and Bofferdange in a wooded area known as Hëeschdrefferbierg on October 28 last year.
The man was carrying no identification papers and his body was in an advanced state of decomposition, making it difficult to identify him.
It is thought that the man, whose age is estimated to be between 50 and 60 years old, had died up to six months before the body was discovered.
Police suggest this means he could have disappeared any time between May 1, 2011 and the end of August.
The man is 1.80 metres tall, he was wearing a black C&A t-shirt sized 39/40 and carried a packet of LM brand cigarettes in his shirt pocket. He wore size 41 shoes.
He had grey/brown hair and was balding. Anyone with information about the body or who has knowledge of the disappearance of a male in the given timeline is urged to contact Luxembourg police on 113.
