(JB) Reports of a naked man photographing himself close to a motorway just over the border in Germany, prompted a police call-out on Sunday.

During the incident in the afternoon, police responded to a report that a man had been seen naked in a rest area on the A1 motorway between Hermeskeil and Trier.

A patrol car went to the site where they found a man lying naked between two camera tripods.

When the man saw the officers, he fled with the tripods down a steep slope where officers lost sight of him.

They later caught up with him in a car park where it transpired the man owned a graphic design studio for which he was taking photographs of himself.

The man was given a caution.
