New Auchan in Differdange to open in 2017
(ADW) French supermarket chain Auchan, quashed any doubts surrounding their new supermarket project in Differdange on Wednesday, as it was announced that it will definitely go ahead as planned.
Construction details for the project are beginning to be circulated and, according to the group, work should begin early next year with completion envisaged for the end of 2017.
With the Auchan in Kirchberg, and the construction currently underway in Gasperich, the Differdange project will be the third supermarket for the chain in the Grand Duchy.
The plans for Differdange in the area known as "Plateau du funiculaire" were supposed to be presented in the summer with work beginning in the autumn, but will now start early 2016.
Auchan will occupy a total of 4,300 square metres in a new shopping centre which, in its entirety, will spread out over 14,000 square metres. Around 30 shops and restaurants will be part of the new complex.
