New Grevenmacher Bridge opens Tuesday
(ADW) The new bridge over the Moselle between Grevenmacher and Wellen in Germany will be opened to traffic on Tuesday.
The opening will take place late afternoon after four months of work. This also means that buses are also able resume their normal routes in the area over the bridge once more.
According to the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Claude Wiseler, the project was completed on time, in fact one day earlier than originally predicated.
"The bridge has advantages for boats passing underneath," said Wiseler, "the pavements have widened to encourage pedestrians and cyclists (to use the bridge)", he concluded.
There is still some work to be done on the bridge, expected to be completed by 2014. This could mean that occasional bridge closures may occur up until the beginning of next year.
