(CS/DL) The new maternity ward of the “Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg” continues to grow, with structural work now completed and construction entering into the next phase.

On Thursday, Health Minister Mars Di Bartolomeo will visit the construction site on the corner of Rue Pierre Federspiel and Route d'Arlon.

The 52.9 million-euro “Maternité” will be situated right next to the CHL's pediatric unit, and together the two buildings will form a new mother-child-centre.

The centre is set to open its doors in 2015.

Designed by “Atelier d'Architecture & de Design Jim Clemes SA” and “Valentiny HVP Architects” the building will have a surface area of 13,600 square metres on seven floors, and will feature 36 single and eight double rooms, as well as six delivery rooms.

Around 2,200 babies per year are expected to be born at the maternity ward.
