A pedestrian had to be airlifted to hospital after they were struck by a car in a village in the north east of Luxembourg.

A pedestrian had to be airlifted to hospital after they were struck by a car in a village in the north east of Luxembourg.

According to police, the driver of the car involved was unable to brake in time when a pedestrian unexpectedly stepped into the road in the centre of the village of Marnach at around 5.30pm on Wednesday.

The pedestrian was thrown against the windscreen sustaining serious head and leg injuries. The injured person was taken to hospital in Ettelbrück.
