A warning of fake police officers in the Grand Duchy has been issued by the real Luxembourg police force, after an incident in Senningerberg was reported on Tuesday evening.

A man posing as a police officer wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap appeared at the front door of a resident on rue du Chateau d'Eau in Senningerberg and spoke French. When the home owner questioned him and decided not to trust the “officer”, the culprit quickly left.

However this was not the first reported incident of this kind recently as a similar case was reported in Hesperange last Sunday.

A man wearing dark blue clothes posing as a police officer was spotted on the road 'Ceinture um Schlass'. A resident opened the front door to the man who again spoke French, but disappeared a short time later.

Luxembourg police warn residents to be wary of false police officers and point out that all of them are able to speak Luxembourgish. They can also be identified  by a service card all of them carry.
