(CS) Princess Elisabeth, Grand Duke Henri's aunt, was honoured at a wake service yesterday. The princess passed away in November and was laid to rest at her Austrian home.

The quiet ceremony took place at the St Michael parish church at the Fëschmaart in Luxembourg city.

Grand Duke Henri was present at the afternoon service together with the Grand Duchess Maria Teresa and Crown Prince Guillaume. Among other royal guests were the Grand Duke's brother Prince Guillaume and Princess Sibilla, as well as Princess Elisabeth's daughters and their families.

Canon Michael Wiltz celebrated the mass together with capitular Henri Hamus, chaplain François Muller, canon Georges Vuillermoz and abbot Romain Gillen.

St Michael's choir accompanied by Alain Wirth on the organ and several soloists provided the musical composition.

Princess Elisabeth of Luxembourg passed away at Fischbach castle in Luxembourg at the age of 88 on November 22. Her husband Franz Ferdinand of Hohenberg, a descendant of the Austrian heir to the throne Franz Ferdinant whose assassination led to the First World War, passed away in 1977.

The Princess was buried alongside her husband in the family's crypt in Artstetten castle in Austria on December 3. Princess Elisabeth is survived by her two daughters Anita of Hohenberg and Sophie de Potesta.
