Raiders' getaway car found in Beggen
(JB) Police have found the car used by men who raided a post office on Thursday morning, abandoned beside a football pitch in Beggen.
The green Audi 100 Avant with Luxembourg plate WZ079, was discovered parked in a car park beside a football pitch at 4.35pm on Thursday.
Police have confirmed that it was the same car used by three raiders who robbed a post office in Niederanven at gunpoint on Thursday morning.
During the incident, two masked men entered the post office and demanded money, while another remained in the car.
Two customers and post office staff were inside the building at the time of the robbery. No-one was injured and the value of items stolen was not known at the time of publishing.
It emerged that the getaway car used in the robbery and found in Beggen had been reported stolen overnight from Wednesday to Thursday from an address in "rue de la Libération" in Mamer. There was not trace of the three robbers when the car was found.
Police urged motorists not to pick up hitchhikers in the vicinity and, if anyone sees anything suspicious, to call the emergency line 113.
