(CS) Prince Félix, second-oldest son of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, celebrates his 30th birthday on Tuesday, as he is awaiting the birth of his first child with Princess Claire later this month.

The Luxembourg prince was born on June 3, 1984, at the Grand Duchess Charlotte maternity clinic in Luxembourg City. Félix is currently second in line to the Luxembourg throne and is a knight of the Order of the Gold Lion of the House of Nassau.

Prince Félix and Claire Lademacher announced their engagement in December 2012, and two wedding ceremonies – a civil service in the bride's native Germany and a religious ceremony in the south of France – followed in September 2013.

The couple live in the south of France, managing the family owned “Château-les-Crostes” wine estate. Earlier this year the Grand Ducal household announced that Félix and Claire are expecting their first child, to be born in Luxembourg later this month.

Félix and Claire met at the prestigious “Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil” boarding school in Switzerland, which the prince attended following his education at primary school in Lorentzweiler and the first years of secondary school at the “École Privée Notre Dame (Sainte-Sophie) de Luxembourg”.

In 2003, the prince followed in the footsteps of his older brother Guillaume, and attended Sandhurst military academy in the UK. However, he was unable to finish his training for health reasons. Between 2003 and 2004, Félix pursued a number of internships in different sectors before working in marketing and events management for a company in Switzerland.

He has since acquired a Master's degree in bioethics and is currently pursuing courses in oenology.

Prince Félix is the patron of the sport parachuting organisation “Cercle Para Luxembourg” and the Luxembourg Aeronautical Federation, as well as the Luxembourg Basketball Federation.

The 30-year-old royal speaks fluent French, English, German and Italian and has also studied Spanish. An enthusiastic athlete, he plays tennis, volleyball, football, golf and basketball, as well as enjoying parachuting, skiing and snowboarding.

He regularly joins the Grand Ducal family for official events.
