Saks Fifth Avenue at Royal Hamilius?
(CS) While a department store by Galeria Inno had previously been announced for the Royal Hamilius development, this could be turned into a Saks Fifth Avenue instead, according to media reports.
The possibility of a change in tenant for the Royal Hamilius project comes after Metro group sold 16 Galeria Inno stores to Hudson's Bay Company, as part of a bigger deal, which also saw a switch in ownership of the German Galeria Kaufhof department store chain and Sportarena shops.
As paperJam reported Tuesday, Hudson's Bay in turn is interested in expanding its high-end Saks Fifth Avenue business, with Luxembourg a possible destination to get the ball rolling. Online shopping deliveries to Luxembourg from the Saks Fifth Avenue webshop are already possible.
Royal Hamilius would provide 10,000 square metres in retail surface, previously bookmarked for Galeria Inno.
The demolition of the Centre Hamilius began earlier this year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2015. This would allow construction to begin next year. An underground car park and the department store were set to open in 2018, with a Delhaize supermarket to be added in 2019.
Other shops, cafés or restaurants have not yet been confirmed. There has been no official statement on the Saks Fifth Avenue report.
