Suspected suicide strands commuters
Commuters faced lengthy delays on the train line between Metz and Luxembourg this morning after a pedestrian was mowed down by a train.
According to firefighters at the scene, the victim reportedly threw themselves under the high-speed train as it arrived at a pedestrian crossing near Vandières, on the Metz to Nice line, at around 6.30am.
All subsequent trains between Paris and Nancy had to be diverted in both directions, meanwhile commuters travelling between Metz and Luxembourg were forced to use rail replacement buses.
The accident left people waiting for up to an hour for transport before timetables returned to normal at around noon.
