All rail traffic between France and Luxembourg has resumed after they were cancelled this morning due to a power failure on the line.

(ADW) All rail traffic between France and Luxembourg was cancelled this morning due to a power failure on the line.

As of 7:45am no trains were running between Thionville and Bettembourg for at least an hour and a quarter.

By 9am, CFL announced that the problem had been resolved and trains were resuming with some delays to passengers caused by the backlog of commuters.

The severe delay, which caused Monday misery for thousands of commuters on Monday, raise questions about what went wrong and how such a similar situation can be avoided in future.
