Two separate road accidents were reported in Luxembourg on Wednesday night leaving two people injured and requiring treatment in hospital.

Two separate road accidents were reported in Luxembourg on Wednesday night leaving two people injured and requiring treatment in hospital.

It was at about 10.45pm when the first accident occurred on a route between Mertzig and Feulen in the east of the country. A driver was reported to have lost complete control of their car and skidded off the road, crashing and ending up in a field. The motorist was hurt and had to be transported to hospital by an emergency medical service team from Diekirch. The road was blocked for a short period while Mertzig firefighters cleared the scene.

The second crash happened at about 12.45am on the road between Kautenbach and Nocher in the north of the country. Again, the driver lost control of his vehicle before crashing head-on into a tree. Wiltz emergency services arrived quickly at the scene and rushed the driver to hospital, although is condition is not known at this stage.
