VIDEO: Cavalcade comes to town!
(ADW) Diekirch, historically the town of the donkey, came alive on Sunday with the traditional Cavalcade: between 25,000 and 28,000 spectators gathered in the streets of Diekirch to watch the parade of colourful floats, each one passing, proving to be more original than the previous. True to custom, participants mostly dressed up as characters we know today, even Marge, Homer, Bart and the rest of the Simpsons had their own float. Others chose lighter subjects to celebrate this great day having prepared for months.
Altogether, the 33rd edition of the Cavalcade in Diekirch boasted 61 colourful associations - or 1,800 people - who marched a distance of two kilometres, to the delight of young and old.
While the event was a feast for eyes and ears, the Cavalcade also became a feast for tasting too as seven and a half tonnes of sweets, chocolates and Fueskichelcher were distributed throughout the procession
