Police want to hear from the owners of two cars spotted near to a warehouse which was could have been set alight by arsonists.

They are seeking the owner of a red Mini with black stripes on the bonnet and an old blue Ford, both of which had Luxembourg number plates.

While the occupants are not suspected in the incident, police would like to speak to them to find out if they saw anything unusual in the area prior to the fire.

The blaze broke out at the former Molitor store on the outskirts of Sandweiler on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters extinguished the flames but the building was severely damaged and the roof had fallen in. It is thought that the warehouse had not been in use prior to the fire.

In addition to the two vehicles, police would like to speak to a man aged 35 to 40, who wore a blue T-shirt and blue jeans and had balding hair and a young woman with medium-length brown hair aged 35 to 40 years old who was wearing blue jeans.

The two were seen in the area by other witnesses and may have further information which could help police with their investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Luxembourg police on 113.
