(ADW) The temporary blue steel bridge next to the capital's Pont Adolphe is slowly but surely taking shape as giant mecano-like pieces are joined together. On Monday, another of the bridge-supporting pillars will be erected.

The bridge is made up of six sections which, one by on, are being successively assembled. In early August the first section was constructed consisting of the first bridge pillar and two giant steel beams.

The new "Blue Bridge" will cost the state a total of 23 million euros. With the renovation and extension work on the old Pont Adolphe bridge added to the equation, the total cost comes to 63 million euros.

During restoration of Pont Adolphe traffic will be redirected in the direction of the train station area via the “Blue Bridge”.
